About The Program
Beyond our school programs, we also offer tuition for children beyond the 5th grade, welcoming past graduates of Samata Sarana, as well as children from nearby government schools. Currently we have over 60 students of this nature enrolled with us.
In addition to these students, our non-formal education programme provides an opportunity for the unfortunate who had to drop out of school due to uncontrollable circumstances.
CHALLENGE
The Challenge
Attending school has it's own costs for the disadvantaged youth, with clothing, books and stationery all being significant expenses. It's common for parents to send only one of their children to school due to this, contributing to the cycle of poverty.
Owing to this, Samata Sarana made an agreement with the surrounding schools to provide education up to the 5th grade, preparing them for the shift over to higher grades. Besides economic setbacks, school is not viewed as a necessity by some of the community, with the impression being that it is only a requirement for high-tier jobs.
